History

In the last three centuries, the town of Modica is famous for a school of stonecutters worthy of being not only honest craftsmen but also real artists, that created several manufacturings and elegant decorations for religious and not religious buildings.

There are different remarkable examples of their ability and creativity like a lot of architectural and decorative patterns, cornices and skilfully carved keystones, but also friezes, mouldings and consoles, that show the spreading of the good taste in the different social classes and become an element of individual connotation too.

Luigi Poidomani trained in one of this school, his father was his first master. More than twenty years ago, in the 1971, he was the first promoter of a modern and equipped site for the processing and manufacturing of the calcareous stone of Modica.
